You can finish your job early and won’t be punished for doing so. Getting paid by the hour, tradesperson tends to not focus on efficiency so charging by the hour might not help you get the full value of your work and your experience.

Charging an hourly rate gives you a bit of insurance in cases the project takes longer than planned. You can still earn money by doing extra work, whereas if you give a total estimate upfront, you might be still doing additional work for no extra money.

Because of being simple to understand, hourly rates provide business owners with an opportunity to explain how their experience and skills make the rate worthy.
