Employment Agreement Builder

This tool helps you create tailored employment agreements for your staff. Employment agreements are a legal requirement – and a great foundation for an employment relationship. It covers what you must do by law, and also sets out common mistakes made by employers and how to avoid them. It takes about 30 minutes to complete. You can save it partway through.

ONECheck

Use ONECheck to see if your business name, web domain and trade mark are available. It only takes one search.

Funding Explorer

Your business might have more funding options available than you realise. We’ll help you explore the best options.

How much will that new employee cost you?

Job ad + wages +? = cost of a new worker. Use the Employee Cost Calculator to make sure you include hidden costs, whether it’s extra equipment or training, KiwiSaver contributions or fringe benefit tax, tailored to your industry and workplace.

Workplace Policy Builder

Policies set out the rules for your workplace, and together with an employment agreement, are a great foundation for employment relationships. Policies tell your workers what you expect from them and what they can expect from you.

Which laws apply to your business?

Use our Compliance Matters tool to find out the legal requirements you and your business must follow. You can tailor your search by topic, for example, taxes, exporting or health and safety, or to suit your industry or business structure.

Take climate action

Taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint can help your business in various ways. Check out the Climate Action Toolbox to find out how you can benefit your bottom line.

Work out your income tax

Use this calculator to work out your basic yearly tax for any year from 2011 to the current year. It will not include any tax credits you may be entitled to, for example, the independent earner tax credit (IETC). It also will not include any tax you’ve already paid through your salary or wages, or any ACC earners’ levy you may need to pay.

PAYE calculator

Employers and employees can use this calculator to work out how much PAYE should be withheld from wages.

Calculating your ACC levies

Your levies are calculated differently depending on whether the Accident Compensation Act 2001 treats you as an employee who pays their levies, self-employed, an employer, a shareholder-employee or earning income from overseas. Find out how to calculate them.

Student loan repayment calculator

It may be helpful to see how much faster you can pay off your loan if your income changes or if you make additional payments. Additional payments are in the ‘Pay it faster’ option in the calculator.

Estimate your Working for Families entitlement

You can use this calculator or chart to estimate your Working for Families entitlement, the easy way. However, if you’re eligible for Working for Families, the IRD will work out your entitlement for you. Then they’ll give you a notice of entitlement telling you how much you’ll get and the date of the payments.
